Robert Johnson – ‘King of the Blues’

Whilst looking around for bargains on iTunes and Play.com I found possibly the biggest and best of all. Robert Johnson’s greatest hits, aka – ‘King of the Blues’ which features 29 tracks of pure 12 bar gold.

For those of you that do not know about Johnson, his career was rather short lived but still incredibly influential. He proclaimed that one day he would be the best Blues musician of all time, then vanished. On his return he strangely announced that he had been instructed to meet the ‘Devil’ at the crossroads near Dockery Plantation, Mississippi. There he met a man (who Johnson claimed was the Devil) that would change his career forever, all through tuning his guitar.

Johnson returned as one of the most influential Blues musicians of all time, and his songs are still seen today as the ‘standard’ for any aspiring Blues performers. If you’re interested in hearing some ‘back to the routes’ Blues that has a hint of light heartiness about it, then this is the CD for you.

You can pick up the album on iTunes for just £2.49 and for the amount of tracks featured on the album this is definitely a worthy investment. Sure, if you’re not a fan of the 12 bar Blues scale then this album may become slightly tedious, but I don’t think it matters – this man was truly talented.

This was only a brief post today, but if you want to find out more about this legendary character visit –
